Richard WAGNER CIRCLE
Bangkok

Created in 2003 by Somtow Sucharitkul and inaugurated in Bangkok by Wolfgang Wagner, grandson of the great composer himself, the Richard Wagner Circle Bangkok is affiliated with the Bangkok Opera. It is the driving force behind the first production of Wagner’s complete Ring Cycle in Southeast Asia by the Bangkok Opera, which — after numerous delays and hardships — finally had its opening in February, 2006 with Das Rheingold. One of the most exciting events in classical music in the region, this is the first production of Wagner’s Ring created from an entirely Asian perspective.
Southeast Asia is the next Wagnerian frontier, with the innovative Ring Cycle in progress, a new film of Parsifal based on Buddhist concepts planned by Dr. Titus Leber, and a renewed sense of excitement. Please join the RCWB and be part of the cutting edge!
